Aromatherapy is a unique therapy as the pure essential oils interact with the human body in 3 ways:

Pharmacological – chemical (drug) interactions within the body

Physiological –  physical normal functioning of organs, tissues, cells

Psychological – mind & emotions

Aromatherapy can be enjoyed by all – whether you are unwell, just looking to relax and unwind or in the everyday use of skin care products.

How essential oils can be used:

AROMATHERAPY WYNNUM, BRISBANE

Steam Inhalation
Add 10 drops of pure essential oil to a bowl of steaming water.  Then place a towel over your head and the bowl and inhale the vapours for a few minutes.  (The eyes should be kept shut during inhalation).  Aromatherapy steam inhalation is a traditional home remedy to ease congestion in the respiratory passage caused by colds, coughs, catarrh and sinusitis.

** Caution must be taken with boiling water – please make sure that container being used is safe and that the surface the bowl is placed on is secure to avoid accidents or burns **

Candle Vapourisers
Fill the bowl with water to as full as you can carry, without spilling, add 10 – 15 drops of  pure essential oil to the water, light the candle.  The scent will be noticeable for approx 30 – 45 minutes.

Electric Vapourisers

Fill with water to indicated line (varies with each different model of vapouriser) add 4 to 6 drops of pure essential oil or pure essential oil blend to the water and use per instructions of specific vapouriser.  The scent will be noticeable for approx 30 – 45 minutes.

Direct Inhalation
Apply 2 – 3 drops of pure essential oil or pure essential oil blend neat to a tissue or handkerchief, hold this near the nose for a few moments and inhale.

Compress
Use 4 – 5 drops of pure essential oil in 200ml of water.   Place a cloth in hot or cold water depending on the condition and then wring out and lay over affected area.  Aromatherapy Compress is useful for the temporary relief of painful periods, skin problems, bruises, muscular aches, headaches & migraines.

Bath
Aromatic baths are used to relax & revitalise.  The essential oils will need to be diluted in a carrier oil to disperse throughout the water in the bath.  Add 10 – 12 drops of selected oils to a carrier oil (eg:  Sweet Almond Oil)  and pour into the bath.

Foot & Hand Baths
Add 4 – 5 drops of pure essential oil to a teaspoon of Carrier Oil eg: Sweet Almond Oil, and then add to a bowl or bucket of warm water.

Massage
Use a 2.5% dilution of chosen pure essential oil to a carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil (this is equal to approx 5 drops to every 10ml of carrier oil).  Or why not just book in for an Aromatherapy Massage or Swedish Massage and surrender to pure relaxation?

** Essential oils need to be stored out of direct sunlight, in temperatures below 30 degrees.  Always secure the lids on the oils as oxygen may react with them overtime.  Never ingest (swallow) essential oils.  Keep out of the reach of children.  Never apply oils directly to skin unless advised by qualified aromatherapist.  If you have any adverse reactions stop using immediately, rinse the affected area with a mild soap and water, and call me to discuss. **
